I finally finished my 101 in 1001 list! I've been working on it for awhile now- it takes some time to come up with that many solid goals! But I'm really happy with it. To see it, click the lovely "101 in 1001" up there in the menu bar, or click the picture! :)
Since Andrew was working and I was bored at home with a cute baby, I impulsively decided to have a little photo shoot! I grabbed a few Valentine-y outfits and props and opened the blinds- it was so sunny! The light was just perfect. Here are my faves.
One third of my baby's first year is gone! Caleb is growing fast. He gets more and more fun every day- we love to make him laugh, play peek-a-boo with him, read with him, and listen to his velociraptor screeches all day long (actually, that last one is not so awesome). He is a super active boy. He can't sit still, kind of like his daddy! Tummy time has turned into "flail all of my limbs around because I want to MOVE" time. He's already teaching himself how to scoot around, so I feel like he'll be crawling soon. He tries so hard to lift his body up, and then he gets mad when he can't quite do it. He can lift his chest up most of the way. And he can spin around and end up in a completely different spot if we give him enough time. It's not intentional, yet, but still pretty cool. This is definitely going to sound weird. Don't say I didn't warn you. Here goes.
One of the coolest parts of this whole baby thing so far has been diapering. I know that sounds strange. Diapers are, by definition... poopy. But we made the decision to use cloth diapers, and the whole thing has been downright fun. When I was pregnant, Andrew and I went to a "Cloth Diapering 101" class to learn all about it- and wow is there a lot to learn! The class was a good introduction, and sealed our decision to give it a try. Andrew, being the more practical of the two of us, was on board for cost reasons. I, on the other hand, thought the money-saving was a nice bonus... but I mostly liked how adorable they are and how cool I sounded when I told people we'd be cloth diapering. I mean, if we're being honest. So exactly why would anyone choose to cloth diaper. Well... One of my New Year's Resolutions was to do a buy nothing month. I've read about other people doing them and always thought it was interesting. I'm a spender, so I thought it would be a fun challenge and have the added bonus of saving us money! After talking about it, Andrew and I decided January was the perfect month to do it, since it's right after Christmas and other than one birthday, we didn't think we'd have any reason to have to spend money.
Ahh a new year! One of my favorite things. I try to write down a little something every January to not only record my goals and hopes for the coming year, but to reflect on my previous year and celebrate it. So here it is.
We had a such a great Christmas this year. It was busy and full and we enjoyed it a lot. It was special to us because it was Caleb's first Christmas, so I know even though he won't, we'll remember it for a long time.
December is most definitely my favorite month of the year. I love the lights, the music, the snow (when we get it...), wrapping gifts, baking, decorating... it's all so much fun for me. It's even more fun with a kiddo, and I can imagine as our family grows and grows up, it'll just keep getting better. |
