I did it! I completed my first goal today. # 27- leave a 100% tip.
Andrew and I spontaneously decided to go out to dinner this evening. We'd been running some errands and I was starving. We like to cook and it's so much less expensive, so we don't eat out often, but every once in awhile we enjoy it.
We had just finished buying materials to make reusable paper towels (another goal on the list), and so when the waitress asked us what we were up to, I mentioned that we were at the craft store. She got really excited and asked what we were shopping for, and we chatted about crafts a bit. She mentioned that she's a scrapbooker (yay kindred spirit!), and I told her I was trying to be good at sewing. We talked about how they just built a Hobby Lobby nearby and what a dangerous place it was. She joked that she should just have the restaurant deposit her paycheck at Hobby Lobby, or that maybe she should just live there. They both sound like solid plans to me!
All in all, she was such a lovely person. Super friendly and sweet, chatty without being in our faces the whole meal, and she even offered to hold Caleb so we could eat. I told Andrew in the middle of the meal that I really wanted to tip her well, and told him about my 100% goal, and he thought it was a great idea.
I wrote her a note thanking her for her awesome service and telling her to have a great night and enjoy the snow. I added something about how she should probably head to Hobby Lobby soon. :)
I love knowing I made someone's day. I've been smiling about it all night. Even though I didn't get to see her reaction, which would've been fun, I just know she was probably surprised and happy, and that makes me happy.
I know it's cliche, but doing something nice for someone else just feels so good. I know I won't regret not spending that extra $25 on myself. A little gesture goes a long way!
Have you done (or been the recipient of) a kind act lately? Tell me about it in the comments!
